Daytop Mendham director says families of addicts should have anti-overdose drug

As the rate of heroin addiction surges, police and drug abuse treatment experts are hoping to alert more people that a drug that can save the life of a person suffering a heroin overdose is available without prescription at all CVS drug stores.

The drug is Naloxone, an opioid antagonist that can be used to counter the effects of an overdose. An aerosol form of naloxone is administered nasally through use of a syringe-atomizer.
